Most people move every two to three years. That said, moving is one of the biggest stressors in a person’s life. To make moving simpler you need to stay organized throughout the entire process. Make a plan for the entire move before packing and everything will go much smoother.
If you are not a planner or have a hard time staying organized, the best thing you can do is to hire local moving services. These movers will do all the work for you. They will pack everything, move everything, and they can even unpack everything at your new home. In this way, the move is ensured to go quickly and smoothly. The only downside is that it can be expensive depending on how much you are moving and how far you are going.
Even if you hire movers, there may be items you want to pack yourself. Anything you pack needs to be labeled. It’s best not to assume you’ll remember what is in each box. If you’re packing your entire place, after a while all boxes will begin to look similar. Labeling what is in each box or at least what room each box should go in at your new place will help immensely during the unpacking phase.
Use Bubble Wrap
Regardless of who is packing your kitchen or fragile items, you need to ensure those items are carefully wrapped. Use bubble wrap, thick blankets, or pillows to secure your fragile items. Remember that these items will all be packed into a moving van or car and that most roads aren’t smooth. Expect your boxes to shift and for something to break. Something will inevitably be damaged, so it’s up to you to do your best to prevent that.
Although people move fairly often, it’s never fun. If moving stresses you out take the time to plan out exactly what you’re doing and start figuring out where your items will go in your new home.
